Frequently asked questions

Often times, audience members will approach me and ask me questions about myself, including my history as a musician, my future plans, and many other particularities of show business!

On this page, I've highlighted a few of the most common questions I have been asked and answered them as best I could...

If you have any questions you'd like to see posted on this page, feel free to contact us.

I have been actively performing for 20 years now! I first set foot on stage at age 4.
I've owned a few different ones over the years, but my original pair of Buddy Holly glasses were actually sunglasses that I had changed into reading glasses. I can see normally without glasses but I do need them to read.
No. When I was 6, I was enrolled in guitar lessons but quit after only a few weeks - I didn't like following a set format. So, I taught myself to play piano and went back to the guitar later on. At age 12, I was enrolled in piano lessons with the hopes of learning musical theory... Did it work? Not really. I once again ran into the problem of having to play in the style that the instructor wanted me to, so I quit that and went back to my old ways: listen to the song & play it!
Anxious would be a better term, I think. When I was younger, I dreaded the stage but have now grown quite fond of it. The feeling I get before a show is not that of nervousness but of excitement to get the show started and get the crowd going.
My guitar is tuned differently than a normal guitar. When I taught myself to play, I tuned my guitar based on the C-chord triad on a piano: "C-E-G-c-e-g" and developed my own fingering for all the chords in the dictionary. After many years of inability to play another guitar without re-tuning to my configuration, I succeeded in learning how to play normally - but you'll rarely see me play standard-tuned guitar on stage!
Guitar? I'd say I began playing seriously around age 8. Piano and harmonica, I've played since I was 6, though organ came around age 8 too. By age 9, I had already played an entire Christmas mass on the organ at church and I still return to this day to play. Aside from these, I also play bass, drums, percussion instruments, and a wee bit of woodwinds - I don't often get to use these in show, though.
Some of my wardrobe comes from Toronto, some from the USA. I still occasionally wear some of my grandfather's tailor-made suits which I've had altered to fit me. My Ritchie Valens costumes were actually brought back from Mexico by my grandmother, then she altered them and added some shine and shimmer.
So far, the farthest shows I've done were in Mexico when I was younger, though I have not been back in a number of years. Next farthest would be the Gulf Coast of Texas, then the Carolinas. I've been lucky and hope to continue reaching out to far and distant lands.
From 2012 until 2017, I worked with The Good Vibrations from North Bay, Ontario for local northern performances and was teamed up in 2014 with The Gem Tones & Casino Bros, groups of professional musicians from Toronto with whom I have the excitement of travelling somewhere new every week!
Yes, I do dabble in writing but I have enjoyed performing tributes such in the last 20 years that I never put too much focus into my own original material. However, throughout my travels, I've gained insight into the importance of maintaining originality in music. I guess you could say that there are some side projects underway, but I shall speak no more of this right now...
God willing, yes! Our motto in the Beach Party Boys is "Always have Fun Fun Fun", so as long as I am still able to and the crowds are still enjoying it, you can bet that I'll be on that stage!
